Laura Tuhela-Reuning is an environmental microbiologist who is involved in maintaining the George W. Burns Scanning Electron Microscope Laboratory. The SEM was brought to Ohio Wesleyan through the collaborative efforts of the departments of Botany/Microbiology, Geology and Geography, and Zoology. Therefore, students with a variety of departmental majors benefit from the availability of this instrument. Dr. T-R provides individualized supervision and training for students using the scanning electron microscope (SEM) in their class work and independent research. She assists students who have individual projects in developing methods of sample preparation. In addition to her SEM work, Dr. T-R teaches The Theory and Practice of Electron Microscopy (BOMI 318), Introduction to Microbiology (BOMI 125) and a laboratory section of Medical Microbiology (BOMI 280). She is also a student academic advisor. Dr. T-R is a member of The American Society for Microbiology and The Institute of Food Technologists. |
