Dr. Murray, curator of the The Jason Swallen Herbarium and Adjunct Professor of Botany, is responsible for the collection that includes over 16,000 specimens from around the world, with specialty collections documenting the local flora and the pantropical Guanabana family. Nancy Murray is finishing a study of the African species of Xylopia, a pantropical group of trees with promising anti-cancer and anti-malarial properties.

As the chief Pre-Health Professions Advisor, Dr. Murray works with students who plan to apply to dental and medical schools.

Courses that Dr. Murray teaches include Practical Botany (BOMI 103), Field Botany (BOMI 104) and Ethnobotany (BOMI 200.5).
